About the artist
What do dragonflies, fruit bats, and deermice have in common?
Gavy Swan invites you to find out by exploring wordplay through a collection of miniature sculptures in polymer clay. From visual puns and nonce words to stories and fairy tails [sic], viewers will come face-to-face with the oddities of language.
Gavy Swan creates polymer clay sculptures with a playful sense of “fairy-tale humour”. Her artwork explores the sense of wonder in the miniature that is present in medieval manuscript illumination and blends medieval ideas with modern whimsy. Fantastical creatures and surrealist science feature prominently in her work.
Gavy Swan lives and works in Barrie.
